Dictated by Fate was released as an e-book in August 2009.
It has now been released as a print book in January 2011.
Now, although this book has been lauded by critics and reviewers as being hot, funny, and highly romantic, sales have been very poor. I believe that it has not sold even 300 copies in almost two years!
So my question is...how can I possibly help this under-exposed book to sell decently in both e-book form and print form? It is a full length novel at 360 pages in print, and the Trade Paperback price is $15.99! Wow! Trade paperbacks are not cheap.
The key to sales is exposure...
Obviously I cannot sit back and pray that people decide to search for me on the publisher's website. My back list is lost in space. Unless I can get people looking for Fran Lee Romance on Google and Webcrawler, it's a lost cause. The ideal way to sell back list books is to keep writing books every month or two, and hope that the folks who come to buy the new release will also pick up one of my back list books.
But over the past year, I have only managed to actually write two books, and those were with my other publisher. So obviously, my sales were minimal.
I am mulling over several methods. One is to make up a pdf excerpt that I can e-mail to anyone who wants one. A "sampler" of sorts. I will be happy to allow anyone interested in my books to get a free "peek". And love Blogger as I do, it reaches a very limited number of people...so I am going to experiment a bit and see what happens. Wish me luck!
Hugs...
Fran
